External Building fabric repairs and redecoration project
Following a competitive tender bid, we were delighted to be appointed to carry out external building fabric repairs and redecoration works at John Burnet Hall and Kilmallie Wing on behalf of the University of St Andrews. The building is a 3-storey student accommodation located within the Links Crescent conservation area in St Andrews. The building is flat roofed with slated mansard pitched sections and is traditionally constructed with stone external walls, timber sash and casement windows, timber solid core doors and frames and cast-iron rainwater goods.
Given the limited timeframe to carry out the works during the summer break, much of the works had to be undertaken from a cherry picker. The rear elevation and internal gables were fully scaffolded over some fragile roofs. This was due to the rear elevation being fully landlocked. All painting had to be undertaken in accordance with the University specification.
