Role and Responsibilities
Ian is our Commercial Director and is responsible for dealing with and overseeing bidding, tendering and successful Commercial monitoring of contracts from their inception, through to final invoicing of projects. Liaising with, and maintaining a healthy working relationship with our supply chain to maintain best market prices, procurement of subcontractors and liaising with our clients to meet their budget constraints, are all key aspects of Ian’s remit. Building and consolidating strong client/colleague relationships, are the foundation from which Ian’s work has prospered.
Ian joined the business in early 2015 from another local contractor, from a Senior role which was predominantly mainstream Quantity Surveying. Projects varied in their type (new build & refurbishment within many industry sectors) and also value (£10k - £2m). Prior to this, Ian has worked in a commercial role for a major National Building Contractor dealing with RBS, Natwest & Job Centre Plus refurbishment roll-out programmes, across the majority of the UK. His early years within the industry were spent as a Surveyor with a well-known Group of companies dealing with flooring/internal fit-out and Insurance related works across Scotland.
Experience and Qualifications
Ian has gained invaluable experience within a number of industry sectors during his career to date. Leaving University with a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying, Ian began his career immediately and can now draw down on over 20 years’ worth of experience in Contractual/Tender negotiation, Supply chain management and procurement and internal and external commercial knowledge which can be utilised to suit any project we are successful with, or may be looking to bid for.
